At temples and kovils, remove your shoes and cap. Avoid shorts and very tight clothing.
Some temples do not allow photos inside, including Nallur Kovil.
Hotels do not serve alcohol on Poya (full moon) days and some public holidays.
Smoking and drinking are allowed only in designated areas, not in public places.
Standard hotel check-in is 2 pm and check-out is 12 noon.

When is the best time to visit Jaffna?

The north and east, including Jaffna, are wettest from October to January. Plan around those months if you can.
