Day 1 Arrive in Sri Lanka, on to Sigiriya

Our local representative meets you at the airport. Drive to Sigiriya, stopping at the Dambulla Golden Cave Temple on the way. Spend a quiet evening at the hotel.

Day 2 Sigiriya to Jaffna
Jaffna

Day 3 Jaffna
Jaffna
A full day in Jaffna, the heart of Sri Lanka's Tamil north.

Day 5 Kandy to Colombo
Colombo

Good to know
- Check Sri Lanka's entry rules before you travel. If you need an ETA, apply on the official site: http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/.
- At temples and kovils, remove your shoes and cap. Avoid shorts and very tight clothing.
- Some temples do not allow photos inside, including Nallur Kovil.
- Hotels do not serve alcohol on Poya (full moon) days and some public holidays.
- Smoking and drinking are allowed only in designated areas, not in public places.
- Standard hotel check-in is 2 pm and check-out is 12 noon.
- Kandy averages about 20°C and Colombo about 27°C. Pack a light layer for the hills.
- Light cotton clothes work best. Some hotels prefer long trousers and shoes for men at dinner.
- Tipping is welcome but not required. Hotels and restaurants add a 10% service charge.
- Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted.
- Rain: the southwest is wettest from May to August. The north and east, including Jaffna, are wettest from October to January.
- If a listed hotel is full, we book one of a similar standard.
